Last weekend AZ drew with Groningen and then again the same in the UEFA Cup match against Fenerbahce. AZ was in problems against Fenerbahce , they was losing 0:2 , but at the end their attacking style gives results. That’s what we like in AZ team , always high rhythm matches , always attack and of course lot of goals. This match is important for home team because with eventual 3 points they could overtake 2nd position from Ajax. Team is confident after reaching next round in UEFA Cup and that’s always good sign for any team. But, evidently AZ is not great in defense. They allows too much goals , mainly after ridiculous mistakes . If AZ want to win today they must have more attention in the last line of the team. Otherwise , it will be hard to restrain Ajax attackers. AZ is still with numerous injuries , Joey Didulica , Stijn Schaars , Simon Cziommer , Khalid Sinouh, Rogier Molhoek and David Mendes da Silva are all out , also Barry Opdam is suspended.

Ajax is in practically same position like AZ. They also drew last match and in UEFA Cup they’ve won against strong Werder , but unfortunately 3:1 win was not enough for another round. Definitely , full concentration goes to domestic league. Ajax have point more than AZ and 5 points less than PSV. They have imperative to win , but AZ is strong team and Ajax must play at highest level to achieve good result. Objectively, good result for Ajax is only a win. After Charlton trashed West Ham, Wigan have only 3 points lead and relegation battle will be very interesting. Wigan had really bad run in last few months, and they will have to find their best form to avoid relegation. On the other hand, Newcastle is 9th and without realistic chances for anything more then mid table finish.

Wigan had just 1 win in last 12 matches and that made them all the problems they have at the moment. During midweek they secured draw against Watford on the road and it looks like good result, in reality Wigan certainly wanted all three from that one. But they have showed real motivation in that match and with that attitude they can win enough points to secure league survival in next 11 matches.

Against Newcastle they will not be able to count only on Fitz Hall, but at the same time will hope to continue with good tradition in matches against Magpies. Wigan won their 2 home matches against Newcastle till now, one in league and one in Carling Cup, and both win 1:0. At the same time they did not have luck in matches at St James Park, so it looks that in meteeings between two clubs home team always wins

After 10 consecutive defeats Excelsior made big surprise last week playing 2:2 in Amsterdam against Ajax. They are laying at 16th place or in play-out zone , just two points less than Heracles but also three points more than bottom Den Haag. Obviously, importance of the match is very high and hosts are hoping they could make another good result today. Excelsior plays good football , very attacking and therefore very interesting for the spectators. We believe the worst is behind Excelsior and we give them real chances against NAC, at least they could take one point. Excelsior is without few players , but situation was the same last week too. One of the best Excelsior players Luigi Bruin is out of team , also Hertog and Gyan are still injured while Voskamp, Rothman and Steur are doubts.

To be fair we think Lazio deserves to play in Champions League next season…probably they cant reach it with Milan at their back but still someone would gave great credit to Delio Rossi and his guys.

Lazio started season with penalty points and they also have financial troubles for two years but young side with few experienced players like keeper Peruzzi showed class.

Club symbol and ex captain Massimo Oddo was sold to Milan and in which way team responded ?

They won two out of last three and trail to 4th placed Empoli just a point.

Cagliari was again in problems after good period and wins over Ascoli and Catania…they took just point out of last three games and matches vs Siena and Reggina showed they have troubles playing at home.

Inter is dominant in weak league as they won 16 in a row and broke all records…still even they have no rival in Serie A, midweek game in Champions League vs Valencia showed they rule domestic soccer just because Juventus is in Serie B and Milan started without title ambitions and with huge penalty…

We are not harsh to Inter but simply it is quite visible they play without any problems in Italy just because other teams are weaker than ever and also some wins were achieved on individual quality or some strange refs decisions.

Olympiakos remain on course to win the league once again and a win here will be very helpful considering the final run in. They drew with 3rd placed AEK Athens last weekend 3-3 to show when playing away they can mix it with the top sides. Both Panathinakos and AEK must have seen that fixture as a possible defeat for Olympiakos but they disappointed their rivals with a hard fought draw.

However this week they will be looking for all 3 points with a victory over Ergotelis. Olympiakos have the best away record in Greece although it is not that brilliant. In their last 5 games at home Ergotelis have only won once, lost one and drawn 3. All against sides not as good as Olympiakos so therefore the current champions should do the job.

When the season started we all expected to see Spurs in position Bolton is now. But Spurs did not start and could not find form especially on the road. With just 2 wins away they can not count on Champions league battle. On the other hand, they did not have too much problems at home.

In last few weeks it looks that Spurs are finally those that we hoped they will be from the start. In last 7 days, they trashed Fulham and won against Everton on the road and both times performances have been excellent. Against Bolton they have already lost this year by 2:0, but they certainly hope that situation is different now. Gardner will not be able to play and will be replaces by January signing Rocha. Also, Mido and Huddlestone are doubtfull.

Chelsea and Arsenal will play Carling Cup final at Cardiff, and it could easily be the only chance for trophey for both teams. Carling Cup is hardly enough to keep Mourinho on same job next year, while Wenger do have full repsect in his club and it is hard to imagine that he sould be fired even it is also hard to imagine when Gunners will win anything serious next time.

Chelsea had been close to loosing Terry when he left the pitch in 7th minute of Champions league clash with Porto. But, after just couple of weeks everything looks better for Mournho. First of all, Terry recovered surprisingly fast, while on Sunday we could see Ashley Cole after long time and Robben who also have been doubtfull. As we said, Carling Cup is not real prize for Chelsea. After late Ronaldo masterpiece against Fulham, Manchester United have 9 points lead and 10 more matches till the end of the season. That means that Chelsea will need miracle to win the title and that put lot of pressure on Mourinho to give his best in Champions league as only trophey in this competition would secure his job. Carling Cup as said before will not be enough, but winning the competition would boost confidence and Chelsea will need lot of it to try to win all 11 league matches till the end of the season.

Arsenal reach the finals with young team. Wenger have lot of talents in his squad and some of them could not have chance in league. Carling Cup on the hand have been great for this young players and they fully took the chance. Now, Wenger decided to give them chance in finals also, which means that Chelsea will not have best Gunners 11 to beat at Cardiff. Even with best 11, Arsenal have not won against Chelsea since 2004. As we said they will play with youngsters and they are inexperienced for big games like this. They had great performances before this match in Carling, but it is not the same as this will be national event and oponent will play with best 11 which have not been the case till the final.

Celta Vigos unbelievable run of 12 games and three months without a win finally ended last week as they beat Osasuna away from home 1-0. An away win did not come as a surprise as they play much better in those games, having won 5 of them this season. Playing home is another story and they are the worst team in Spain with only one win in 11 home games. Despite the win against Osasuna, they are still in the relegation zone with 25 points. Playing in UEFA Cup seems to give them special inspiration, as they easily beat the second best Russian team, Spartak Moscow 2-1 and progressed to the next phase. Everybody expected more from them this season in the league but it is not too late yet to improve and survive in Primera.

Getafe - Sevilla (ESP - Spanish La Liga) Bet on this Game

Getafes mighty defence was broken twice last week against Bilbao in a 2-0 loss which once again confirmed their poor form away from home which might be their main obstacle on their way to European cups next season.. The previous away game was also lost to Racing Santander. However, playing home is another story. In between these two defeats came an outstanding victory over mighty Valencia (3-0), and this week another of the top four teams - Sevilla comes to Madrid. Getafe have the best defence in Spain with only 16 goals allowed this season, while their home record of 3 goals conceded in 12 games is by far the best in Spain and one of the best in Europe. Their coach Bernd Schuster is already seen to take over Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Barcelona next season.

Girondins enetered bad period again…just win over Marseille in last four games and to be honest they didn’t deserve to win that single game…simply coach Ricardo side had problems to score recently and defence made some silly mistakes.

They were also eliminated in midweek vs Osasuna in UEFA Cup so only domestic cups left as chance to lift some trophy.

Of course Bordeaux still can reach third place and repeat last season CL place but it is unlikely to happen…to remind you that they lost eleven games this season already and last year they were beaten three times in league.

Valencia plays in a great form at the moment, and has accomplished 2 outstanding results in the last two games; the first one against Barcelona at home, when they won easily 2-1, and another one in Champions League against Inter. They played draw 2-2 in Milan and more than fulfilled their objective of staying alive after the first game, having in mind how well Inter plays at home. Coach Quique Sanchez Flores had lots of problems with injured players this season and it can be a reason for their bad streak before Christmas. They have finally found the good form and could take advantage of their rivals slips. They are currently on the third place with 4 points behind Barcelona and Sevilla with the ambition to close this gap. This week, they play against the worst team in the league and shouldnt have much trouble.

Milan is back in form even they still show defensive fragility…rossoneri won in Siena thanks to Ronaldo brace and 4 – 3 win means they stayed just two points off the 4th place.

As Kaka said in some recent interview, nobody wants Champions League without Milan so no one believe Milan will fail to reach 4th spot at end of turbulent season.

The latest theme of Spanish newspapers is Ronaldinhos weight. After the game with Liverpool and shirt swapping, many people noticed that the superstar has gained some kilograms, and it is not a Madrid-based rumour this time but a fact which probably affects his playing. The last weeks theme ended as Rijkaard finally closed the door for Schuster, Van Basten, Klinsmann and Lippi after clearing out that he has no intention to leave Barcelona. Another game where they must make a comeback is played midweek in Copa del Rey against Zaragoza. Luckily, the oponent in the next round of the league is not so dangerous and this is a chance to regain confidence and stay on the top of the table.

It is soccer classic in France and game always attracts big attention of media and fans, even PSG and Les Verts are not top teams in this seasons…in fact both clubs saw different fortunes lately…

PSG is playing better and better, they can make good run in UEFA Cup but survival remains priority.

Opposite destiny for St Etienne…they saw usual second half of the season struggle winning just point over last three games.

So St Etienne dropped to 7th place and even they have chance to reach European place…well we dont believe in it.

Simply they let best striker to join Monaco and team with ambition wouldn’t make such moves.

Beira Mar is hovering just above relegation zone with 13 points…simply they are bad away and in this league not winning single game away could be decisive for survival chances.

They got new owners recently and made some better results in beating Leiria at home and taking points away to Aves and Amadora.Here they will host champions in bid to surprise much better team and improve survival chances…

Beira Mar - Porto (POR - Portuguese Liga I) Bet on this Game

Beira Mar lost easily at Dragao in first half of the season but at home they managed to stay unbeaten in three out of last four games vs Porto.

Champions hammered Naval on last Friday, they have tough game in midweek vs Chelsea in Champions League but are not safe yet in league as Benfica is four points away…

Porto will probably win…but recently big dogs in Portugal had problems playing away…Porto lost last road game vs Leiria…

UNDER is best bet as we don’t see Beira Mar scoring and something like narrow Porto win is expected.
